Lenticular Form

  • Exceptionnal form.
  • It allows penetration through the air closer to the principle of the wing than to that of the classic airship.
  • For the same volume it is the most compact structure.
  • This aerodynamic shape helps flight manovers and safety, allowing compensation of accidental overweighting (loss of helium, icing…) through its aerodynamic lift.
  • Pseudo-isotropic, it does allow trouble free overnight stops as with no giratory movement, the craft can be easily tethered.
  • This last characteristic avoids logistic equipment and reduces considerably the number of personnel required when landing.

Advantages

Alizé is the answer to the technical requirements associated with tranportation needs which reveal a complex of technical and economical requirements with which a modern airship must comply.
This craft has been built:

• To be manoeuvrable at low speed.
• To take off and land without external help.
• To use unprepared landing sites.
• To overnight in the countryside.
• To reduce energy consumption.
• To be 100% reliable.

Technique

Alizé 50 is an helium-filled semi-rigid airship with a structure made from high performance composite material and with a skin made of multilayered helium-proof fabric.
Alizé has five 600 hp diesel engines which power variable pitch propellers and which are positionned around the airship hull. Three of these engines pivot to allow vertical take-off and landing. The hull has an inverted dihedral tail structure and a fin which allow flight manovers.
